Your Chefs Anne Connell
and Mary Hunt
Anne Connell, Mary Hunt, Helen Gibson and Jean Leavens captured the imagination of Canadian cooks twenty years ago with their Georgian Bay Gourmet Entertaining cookbook series. Now, three cookbooks later they are still creating new and innovative recipes and preparing wonderful meals. They call Anne their "creative culinary genius". She combines fresh ingredients and a keen interest in nutrition for an active lifestyle to produce ingenious menus. Mary's attention to detail makes her the backbone of the cooking foursome, contributing her fitness knowledge to produce healthful recipes. Anne and Mary's complimentary skills, delightful personalities and lifelong love of Georgian Bay make them ideal Georgian Bay Gourmets in the wild!

Georgian Bay Gourmet Program
July 7
Arrive at Killarney Mountain Lodge in time to meet your chefs, guides and fellow travelers for dinner at 6:30. Meet afterwards in the Carousel Lounge. Anne, Mary and your guides will outline the program and answer any questions you have about the trip. Spend the first night at Killarney Mountain Lodge.

July 8
Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the dining room before embarking on your journey. Your guides will go through all the equipment for the trip and help you pack your personal items. Practice a wet exit in the swimming pool and work on basic skills. Paddle by sea kayak to our lunch spot on a beautiful island en route. Arrive in the late afternoon at our base-camp island location and meet your chefs with appetizers in hand! Move into your tent, relax before dinner and enjoy a delicious feast at an elegant table setting on your own island.

July 9
After a tasty hot breakfast, we paddle out for the day to West Fox Island. Our luncheon chefs have prepared an unforgettable waterside buffet, so we need to work up an appetite! Paddle back through the many islands and inlets of the Georgian Bay shoreline and drink in the beauty of this rugged wilderness. Finish the day with another wonderful meal, wine and an evening of stargazing.

July 10
Enjoy a final breakfast prepared by Anne and Mary. Pack up your personal items and paddle home leisurely along Killarney's spectacular shoreline. Return to Killarney village in time for a farewell lunch of fresh-caught fish and chips at Killarney's famous Herbert Fisheries. Return home at your leisure in the afternoon.

The Skills
This trip is ideal for kayakers at all levels who wish to explore a spectacular Canadian shoreline. Professional guides offer basic instruction and safety training with top-of-the-line single and double kayaks. Participants should be comfortable in the water with a PFD.

Lodging
Killarney Mountain Lodge provides classic Canadian wilderness accommodation. Comfortable and cosy, our lodge rooms are pine paneled bed sitting rooms with private bathrooms. Enjoy two nights camping in Killarney's wilderness with top-of-the-line tents, sleeping bags and Thermarest sleeping pads.

Cuisine
Killarney Mountain Lodge is famous for home-style Canadian cuisine. We use only the freshest ingredients and blend traditional Killarney "comfort food" with imaginative contemporary recipes. While on trip, your Georgian Bay Gourmet chefs will create savory menus from their three cookbooks using fresh provisions and their creative talents. We cater to all special dietary needs and requirements. Your package fee includes the services of your chefs and sea kayak guides, shuttles, sea kayaking and camping equipment (including sleeping bag), first night's Lodge accommodation and food from before dinner on July 7th until after lunch on July 10th. The Weather in July
Killarney's weather is very similar to our northern border states (Michigan, Ohio) during the month of July. From the Canada Day holiday weekend (July 1st) to Labour Day Weekend (early September), the weather is warm at night (12-25 degrees C) and moderately hot during the day with very low humidity (20-30 degrees C). There is intermittent rain during our summer season on Georgian Bay. Visitors enjoy summer in Killarney as a welcome break from the humid heat of many North American cities.
