Killarney Mountain Lodge is a casual, comfortable resort on the north shore of Georgian Bay. Family owned and operated for 50 years, the lodge is famous for friendly ambiance, a distinctive cuisine and an exciting outdoor wilderness adventure program. Red granite shores of the Bay and white quartzite hills and sparkling interior lakes of Killarney Provincial Park beckon the canoeist, kayaker and hiker. There's no other place like this!
The year 2012 will mark our 50th year operating Killarney Mountain Lodge. We opened the doors in May, 1962, the year the ribbon was cut to open the Killarney Highway. Until then Killarney had been isolated for 130 years. It was only accessible by boat or via a 22 mile journey by sleigh across Georgian Bay to Manitoulin Island. Needless to say, Killarney was unknown to the public. In retrospect it would seem to have been Mission Impossible but such thoughts never entered our heads.
The 50 year roller coaster was replete with adventures, panics, dramas and fun. More than anything else, we remember and cherish the countless visitors who graced our modest retreat. Without them it would have been Mission Pointless.
To celebrate our 50th we plan to arrange a nonstop schedule of events and hijinks. As these concepts develop we will announce them from time to time. There will be a special welcome next year for everyone who comes to help us celebrate our Golden Jubilee.
